How to Easily Get Your 5 day
Everyone talks about your '5 a day' and the importance of eating enough fruit and veg. However, when you think about five different fruits and veg a day is quite a lot right? And no...unfortunately potato in the form of chips or crisps does not count.👀
It can be a struggle thinking of ways in which you can include fruit and veg in your daily diet and lets face it, it can be mega expensive too which is often off-putting for people. As well as the fact lots of people don't actually like the taste or texture of fruit and veg...
TOP TIP: Make sure you season your vegetables properly and cook them down slowly so the texture is a lot nicer. You'll be surprised by the difference it makes!
SMOOTHIES
Smoothies are a great way to do it! Simply choose your favourite fruits, which could be anything you want...blueberries, strawberries, banana, kiwi...and blend them up with some milk.
Perfect for breakfast and a good way to start the day! You can get your five fruits in before you even get to work.
TOP TIP: Frozen fruit works just as well, it's a lot cheaper and lasts for longer!
SOUPS
Soups are also full of plenty of veggies and tasty flavourings. Again, you can pick your favourite vegetables and blend them together with some seasoning and stock and you've got yourself a tasty dish.
Here's some examples of tasty veg soups:
STEWS & HOTPOTS
Another great meal that includes plenty of vegetables, is a hearty piping hot stew with meat, veg and potatoes. Ideal on a winter's evening. Personally I find carrots are a MUST in a stew, they help pad it out nicely. The key with a stew is to make it chunky but you can also add smaller veggies such as peas and beans.
When it comes to which meat you use, most people have beef as they find it goes better. However, you can also use chicken if you prefer, I have done this in the past with a tomato sauce as opposed to a beef sauce and it was very successful and tasted delicious!
TOP TIP: If you want to make it an even heartier meal, make some cous cous to go with it. It's so tasty when it absorbs all the stew juices.
